HandsNet
Service Selects Entango Technology to Enable Online Processing
and Fundraising
Secure,
Cost-Effective, Work-Free Solution Enables Instant Collection of
Fees-for-Service and Online Donations
SAN JOSE,
CA, July 19, 1999 --
Entango Corporation, an online fundraising service for non-profit
organizations, today announced that HandsNet™, a non-profit online
information provider for human services organizations, has selected
Entango to streamline its subscription process and enable it to
solicit online donations. Entango offers secure online donation
and transaction services to non-profits on a fee-per-transaction
basis with no setup or ongoing costs.
By implementing Entango's services, HandsNet will gain improved
processing of subscriptions to its new WebClipper online information
service. It expects the subsequent enhanced capability to enable
it to process memberships more efficiently as marketing efforts
boost the number of WebClipper subscribers from 2,000 to 5,000.
WebClipper tracks 600 Web sites for information on subscriber-specified
topics such as family issues, funding and resources, health policy,
hunger and prevention of substance abuse and delivers its findings
via e-mail and the Web.
"We're pleased to help HandsNet improve its processes to reach
more human services organizations and support their work for children,
housing, health and other societal issues," said Richard Cox,
president and chief executive officer of Entango. "Our commitment
to non-profits means giving them the ability to make the most of
their funds, and HandsNet will now be able to solicit and immediately
collect online contributions at no out-of-pocket cost."
Prior to selecting Entango, HandsNet collected online subscriber
fees manually. This lengthy process involved obtaining credit card
data online, downloading the information into another system
and then waiting to learn whether transactions were valid before
collecting funds. In addition to streamlining processing, the Entango
solution protects non-profits from fraud. Unlike other online fundraising
services that manage payments through vendor sites, Entango handles
payments on the customer's site, enabling non-profits to maintain
control of funds and ensure secure donor credit information.
"Entango gives us what we need - a ready-to-go solution integrated
into our site at no cost but the transaction charge," said
Michael Saunders, executive officer of HandsNet. "Our accounting
staff is enthusiastic about the time they will save processing transactions,
and subscribers and donors will find it easy to use. Eliminating
the lag time not only gets the donations into our account sooner,
it also improves the certainty of valid charges and cuts our risk."
Entango services collect donations or fees-for-services from within
the structure of a non-profit's Web site, making it simple for donors
or subscribers to quickly complete their transactions. The scaleable
solutions, built on enterprise servers at a secure co-location unit,
can be deployed within minutes.
